Health and safety advantages of lead-free Haus Profi products

Products such as Sabetoflex®, Wakaflex® and EasyFlash® eliminate the health risks associated with lead. They require no specific health and safety measures to be taken prior to installation beyond standard precautions for working at height.

This is in stark contrast to lead for which rigorous health and safety practises have to be deployed. The Health and Safety Executive makes clear the risks associated with breathing in lead dust, fumes or vapour, or by it being swallowed. Symptoms such as headaches, tiredness, irritability, constipation, nausea, stomach pains, anaemia or loss of weight can occur when the amount of lead in the body exceeds prescribed levels. Ultimately, continued exposure can also lead to kidney, nerve and brain damage and infertility.

In addition to the need for contractor health checks (including while on site), even the lightest grade of lead is considerably heavier than Haus Profi flashings. Unlike lead, they are chemically inert and present no hazard to rainwater harvesting systems or the ground in areas where run-off takes place.
